The famous casino card game blackjack can be learned within a few minutes or less. It doesn't have to take years for you to get started in the card game. Here is a short rundown of the game to get on your playing feet in a few minutes.

First, get to know the cards. In the beginning of the game, every blackjack player gets two cards including the dealer. These two cards make up your blackjack hand. All cards are word their face value: if the cards is a five of heart it value is five. Five of hearts and five of diamonds have the same face value (that is five). Face cards, on the other hand, are worth 10 points. These face cards are Jacks, Queens and Kings. Whether the face card is spades or clubs, the value is still 10. All Jacks, Queens and Kings have the same value not one is higher. The aces count for 11.

Second, learn the goal of playing blackjack. In a game of blackjack you will be against the dealer and not with your fellow players. The dealer is the last to act and so you must determine the dealer's move and act accordingly. You may only hold a card of up to 21 total value or else you bust and lose. The goal in blackjack is to beat the dealer: by getting 21 or having the dealer bust (make the total value of his or her card more than 21).

Third, know your options. When it is your turn in blackjack you can stand, hit, split and double down.

Choosing stand will lose your turn while choosing hit will allow you to get another card until you are satisfied or you get busted. When you choose stand, you will get no additional card and you will compare your card with the dealer.

If you have two identical cards then you can split it into two hands. Like if you get two eights, you split one eight into a separate hand and the other another hand. As you split, you wager will also double and winning too could double. Splitting can be your easy way to a win or an easy way to lose. Act wisely. As a tip, never split double tens or double face cards.

In doubling down option, you double your bet and take your last card. Most blackjack players double down when they have a total of 11.

With those steps you can already play blackjack. As a recap, you get two cards at the beginning. The value of each card depends on its face value. Face cards such as Kings have a value of 10 and aces 11. Your goal is to beat the dealer but having a total card value higher than the dealer but not more than 21.
